Rusted Gate

Today we drove the Turquoise Trail from Santa Fe to Albuquerque, and back.  We stopped a couple of times so I could take a few photos.  On the whole I wasn't satisfied with what I ended up with, but there were a few shots of an old gate that I liked.  I decided to process one of them to get some more practice with the software I have...

New Adventures

Back in the saddle... 

I haven't posted in three weeks, as I've been in a period of transition.  After living in Alaska for many years, we threw caution to the wind and moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico.  The last couple of weeks have been spent packing, driving, and dealing with all of those challenges that come with moving.  The blog posts will come fitfully in the next couple of weeks as we get settled into our new lives, but I am looking forward to the creative possibilities that this change of location holds...  I've shared this photo previously, but I chose it again since it captures the spirit of our new life...

Vertical, Repeat

Same concept (and plant) as the last post, vertical orientation.  I like this shot better than the horizontal composition, as more of the repeating pattern is shown.  When working on close or macro shots, I routinely compose using both horizontal and vertical camera orientation, as opposed to cropping the frame later using software.  For me at least, it makes me think about what I'm doing in that moment...
